Description
The Bone Shaker Tour is a unique way to experience the history and culture of Accra, Ghana. You’ll ride in a traditional bone shaker truck, a type of vehicle that was popular in the late 50’s and early 80’s. The trucks are named for their bumpy ride, which is sure to give you a taste of what life was like for early Ghanaian travelers. Introducing you to Ghana’s MUMMY TRUCKS… These outdated wooden trucks were popularly known as TSOLORLE (pronounced ‘Cho-lor-lay). The Tsolorle was a means of public transport in the ‘50s and ‘80s. The new generation kids won’t remember the early part of Ghana’s automobile industry’s history with wooden trucks. Some would have seen them only in pictures or read about the Mummy Trucks being a kind of cheap form of transport. They were means of transport for people to travel on to remote parts and villages. They were common-place across the country and served well the masses and lower income group. In that same period- the 1950s and 1980-, even the nation’s High schools owned a couple of them. It was the means of transportation for students and goods. Passengers hopped on the wooden trucks and got ready for a safe ride through town to their destination. Jamestown Tours is bringing back the nostalgic mummy trucks! It is now time to air the long forgotten trucks which went out of the system and circulation. Our wooden trucks are decorated in vibrant colors for a pleasurable tour. Our Tour Trucks have proverbial inscriptions and slogans about the life needing our attention lately. Your experience will be one of a life time. A party mood is guaranteed! On the ride you will be served with all kinds of drinks. Our Tourists will have a choice between traditional drumming (dancing and music) or a DJ spinning a selection of modern music. The music section on the truck should add more excitement to the tour experience. Get yourselves ready for that mobile party mood on a mummy truck…
