The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the most popular and affordable option for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. As the only route with overnight stays in huts, it’s a great choice for hiking during the rainy season. This well-trodden trail takes you through various climate zones, from tropical rainforests to eternal ice, treating you to scenic African landscapes. The 6-day option is strongly recommended for better acclimatization.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival and briefing
Meet your guide at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Attend a briefing to ensure you’re ready for the climb.
Day 2 Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m) and begin your hike to Mandara Hut (2,700m). Enjoy lunch upon arrival and settle into your hut for the night.
Day 3 Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Hike from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720m), with views of Kibo and Mawenzi volcanoes. Complete an acclimatization hike towards Kibo Hut and return to Horombo Hut for dinner.
Day 4 Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Spend the day acclimatizing with a hike towards Kibo Hut and back. Explore the surrounding area or rest in preparation for the upcoming trek.
Day 5 Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Hike from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,700m) for lunch and rest. Depart at night for the summit push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). After summiting, descend to Horombo Hut for the night.
Day 6 Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Descend from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate (1,860m). Receive your commemorative certificates and transfer back to your hotel.
Day 7 Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
