Village Des Arts

Inaugurated in 1998, Village des Arts fuels Dakar’s creative scene from a sprawling 4-hectare campus purpose-built for working artists. Resident artisans access open studio spaces, a foundry, and galleries where their contemporary works and commissioned pieces take center stage.

As a self-governed artist commune administered jointly with the Culture Ministry, the Village hosts regular public exhibitions, events and an on-site museum educating visitors about Senegalese aesthetics and artistic movements.

Between hosting cultural dignitaries in its calming cafes and providing production facilities for the country’s foremost talents, the Village des Arts remains both tranquil creative oasis and pulsating hub for daring Senegalese innovation.
