Phare des Mamelles

Perched dramatically atop Dakar’s Deux Mamelles cliffs, Phare des Mamelles has safeguarded the rocky Cap-Vert Peninsula since 1864. Guided tours climb to the tower’s lantern room revealing panoramas stretching from N’Gor Island to the towering African Renaissance Monument.

A crucial coastal beacon 50m above sea level, the black and white tower also opens its gallery to the public, offering a window into the life of Senegalese lighthouse keepers and breathtaking sunsets over the westernmost edge of the continent.
